Mea culpa

After I posted this piece about the books for sale at Apple Valley Books, I received an email from Mike Hein, the man behind the Family Policy Council of Maine. In it he says that:

I've never stepped foot in, or near, Apple Valley Books, and have not been to Winthrop in several years.  And I did not write the referenced 'What's Inside Apple Valley Books?' Record article either.

Hein claims that a member "of our staff visited the bookstore and wrote the piece" in question, not him, but he did not name that person, despite my inquiry. And true - the piece that I reference was attributed to "Staff" - since there is no "staff" listed at the FPC site I just assumed it was written by Hein.

I have no reason to doubt Hein on his word that he didn't write the piece, but it is of interest that he is so ready to throw his employee or volunteer under the bus instead of taking responsibility for their post on his website.
